Lawyer Gets 5 Cent Bill From IRS - Gets 4 Cent Refund

A Detroit lawyer received a 5 cent bill from the IRS and was told to pay the bill to avoid additional penalties. He then received a second letter stating that the IRS owed him 4 cents and that he would need to request the refund because the amount is less than 1 dollar. The lawyer said "when I owe them a nickel, I must pay them. It's not optional, but when they owe me, I have to ask for it". Moral of the story? The IRS are morons. I would request a check for even one penny just to piss them off.
